Ornate Magic Group is a professional magic performance and creative team based in Penang, Malaysia, specialising in stage magic, customised performances, corporate entertainment, school events, festivals, weddings, private celebrations and magic workshops.
Founded in 2014 by YL, Ornate Magic Group began as a community of passionate magic enthusiasts with a shared goal — to develop their passion for magic and create opportunities for others to learn, perform and grow.
Over the years, our journey has expanded from magic education and community building to professional performance, creative development, original magic and event entertainment.
Today, our team brings together magicians, educators, creators and performance specialists to create magic experiences designed around the audience, the occasion and the story we want to tell.

OUR STORY
From a Passion for Magic to a Professional Performance Team
Ornate Magic Group was founded in 2014 by YL, following his involvement in the magic society at Jit Sin Independent High School in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.
YL was the founding president of the Jit Sin Independent High School Magic Society. After graduating, he established Ornate Magic Group with the original goal of bringing together like-minded magic enthusiasts and creating opportunities for people to develop their interest in magic.
Junny later joined the group and became one of its key members, eventually taking on the role of Co-Founder. He later served as the fourth president of the Jit Sin Independent High School Magic Society, further contributing to the group's development in magic performance, education and community activities.
In our early years, we organised magic-related gatherings and events, including Malaysia High School magic gatherings, while inviting magicians from Malaysia and overseas to conduct lectures, workshops and sharing sessions.
YL's further studies in Taiwan also opened new connections within the international magic community. This led to collaborations with Taiwanese magic enthusiasts and the organisation of Malaysia–Taiwan magic gatherings and events, creating opportunities for young magicians to exchange ideas and learn from different approaches to magic.
As our experience grew, so did our ambitions.
We moved beyond simply learning and performing magic. We began developing original magic, designing props, creating performances and exploring magic education as a structured discipline.
This eventually led us into the field of professional event entertainment.
Today, Ornate Magic Group combines these different areas of experience to create stage magic and customised magic performances for events across Penang, Kedah and Malaysia.
Our journey has never been about simply performing more tricks.
It has always been about finding better ways to create magic.

OUR EDUCATION JOURNEY
Developing Magicians Beyond the Trick
Education has always been part of Ornate Magic Group's foundation.
For several years, our team has served as the specialist magic teaching team for Sin Min Independent High School in Sungai Petani, Kedah, where we developed and taught the school's Magic Performance programme.
In 2023, the programme became a formal school subject with magic incorporated into students' assessment, marking a significant milestone in magic education in Malaysia.
Our approach goes beyond teaching students how to perform existing tricks.
Students progress from magic theory and practical techniques to performance development and the creation of their own magic routines, while receiving regular opportunities to perform in class.
We believe that learning magic is not only about mastering techniques.
It is about learning how to communicate, perform, create and connect with an audience.
Because we believe:
50% of magic is the magic itself.
The other 50% is performance.
This educational experience continues to influence the way we develop performers and design professional magic performances today.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Magic Is More Than a Trick
We believe that a great magic performance should be designed like a complete production — not simply a collection of tricks performed one after another.
A great film has a concept, a script, actors, cinematography, music and editing. Each element has a role, and together they create one experience.
We approach magic in much the same way.
A strong performance needs:
A concept.
A structure.
A rhythm.
A story.
A performer.
A visual experience.
And carefully designed moments of surprise.
This is why we look beyond the magic prop itself.
Before designing a performance, we consider the event theme, audience, venue, atmosphere, timing and purpose of the event.
Our goal is not simply to ask:
“What magic tricks can we perform?”
Instead, we ask:
“What should the audience feel, remember and take away from this experience?”
This philosophy is particularly important when creating customised magic performances for corporate events, school events, festivals, weddings and special occasions.
